“ Let Our Textiles Tell Your Story™ “
Sans Soucie is a circular reuse textiles studio focusing on UK sock and hosiery manufacturing waste. Our current work centres on creative textile experimentation, upcycling R&D, small‑batch collections, and develop reuse strategies + systems for waste.
What sets Sans Soucie apart is its commitment to upcycling systems thinking. We are not only creatively reusing materials, machines and methods; we consider the entire lifecycle and the systems each textile operates within—how it is sourced, produced, used, repaired and ultimately transformed again. Our circular business model and textile waste design approach centre the wellbeing of the textile throughout its transformation, treating waste as a collaborator alongside all participants in the process—people, machines, tools and technologies.
The studio centres hybrid methods of re-making, combining artisanal textile techniques and experimental processes with obsolete sewing and textile machinery and digital tools to reimagine how textiles are re-designed and re-manufactured. Each Sans Soucie upcycled textile collection is unique, shaped by the nature of the waste materials and the process behind them. Our ongoing material research uses textile waste as a tool for circular textile research, creative reuse methods and new upcycling strategies.
Originally found in Vancouver, Canada but now based in London, Sans Soucie designs meaningful textiles, collections and artefacts by reclaiming local and regional textile production through the creative reuse of pre‑consumer sock waste sourced from hosiery and sock manufacturers in the UK Midlands. This resource has informed the development of a new generation of UK‑made upcycled textiles, apparel and accessories developed through our textile upcycling blueprint and circular reuse frameworks.
